Kol Kol | Weekend Getaway, Western Cape

By Dominique

Looking for the most incredibly scenic getaway only 1 hour (90km!) outside of Cape Town? Then the beautiful Kol Kol is for you!

Kolkol is close enough to the city to escape for a restorative getaway, and far enough to deliver peace, panorama and breathtaking beauty - a sublime slice of South Africa.

We stayed in the Kol Kol Cabin accommodation (Sugarbush) which offers the perfect breakaway for couples, family and friends of all ages. Relax in a private wood-fired hot tub while enjoying a glass of fine local wine. Curl up in front of the stone fireplace surrounded by the fynbos of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

Each Cabin has a wood fired tub which offers the ultimate outdoor indulgence. If you looking for something a little bit extra then why not treat yourself to some TLC. Massage treatments are available within the comfort of your cabin! (excluding Sundays).

Kol Kol has also recently added “Fynbos Pods” to their accommodation which are

unique, bold and brilliant in their architectural design on the outside, and warm, contemporary and typically cosy on the inside. A treat to behold. We cant wait to try these!

OUR EXPERIENCE:

I decided to spoil my husband for his 49th birthday and take him for a weekend away at Kol Kol. We had heard so much about this beautiful place and we were desperate to try it! One downside is that you have to book WAY in advance, so if you wanting to go then book asap! We went during the month of August. The temperatures were still nice and cool so we spent most of our time in the outdoor wood fired tub. What bliss! There is absolutely nothing more relaxing than having your body floating in warm water whilst feeling the chill of the outside air on your skin.

The cabins are fully self catering so we brought along food and drinks. Just be aware that there is not much available to purchase locally so come prepared! There was an outside braai area and eating space which is a beautiful spot to enjoy tea and rusks in the morning and a BBQ in the evening! The views are absolutely breathtaking and it is so quiet - the perfect escape from the usual hustle and bustle of life!

Whilst we didn’t take our children along we are absolutely confident that they would have had the BEST time and it would make for an awesome family weekend away! Next time we will definitely take the girls. There are some hiking trails nearby if you are the adventurous type. Pack your bikes, binoculars, swimming togs and food - then you good to go!

Now its time for you to get out your year planner, book and enjoy! See booking details below.
